Did you know?
The building which Wolverhampton Samaritans currently occupies became a pub in about 1840. It was the first pub in the Midlands to have an Asian landlord, who still had it in 1984 when it changed use. It was known as somewhere everyone was welcome; originally for the Irish community but then later also for the Afro-Caribbean and Asian communities. It was the favoured place for workers from the steam laundry to go after work and cool down. Wolverhampton Samaritans have been in this same building for 55+ years supporting our local and wider community. The charity used to have an ‘01902’ number before the Samaritans free number 116 123 took over as the number for all branches across the UK.
Samaritans are here to listen. Nothing is too big or too small. Whatever is on your mind they are here for you and you’re not alone – call 116 123 for free, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
As a proud Wolverhampton company we are delighted that, through various True Reverie events, raffles and sales we have helped raise vital funds for a number of local charities and good causes this year.
